If you’ve never visited Glenfinnan (only 125 miles north of Glasgow) this place of exceptional beauty will be a treat visit with the magnificent vista; proud vanquished Jacobite-supporting clan members’ memorial on one side; and exquisite train viaduct (featured in Harry Potter) on the other side.

In 1851, originally built as two rooms, your expanded 1st floor room with two bay-facing and floor-to-ceiling paneled windows, commands sweeping views over the bay, Loch Striven, to the mainland mountains beyond. It features a king-size bed, cozy lounge area with romantic, smokeless fireplace and handsome 50 inch 4K TV. We hope you’ll get a kick out of the walk-in shower with bay water views.

The room was spotless and decorated to a high standard also all the personal touches laid on really made us feel special with breakfast being one of the highlights. 

Basically  I can not find one negative to say that’s why we can not wait until we visit again .

					  Highlander House excels - Our first time on the Isle of Bute and first time back in Scotland after 20 years did not disappoint as we were given a warm welcome to Rothesay and... read more Highlander House by Gus and Sherry.  They were very thoughtful in accommodating us in their downstairs room, Smoo, with its king-size bed, luxurious finishes, and breathtaking view of the bay.  The modern bathroom was well stocked with thoughtful items in case guests had forgotten anything.  Gus and Sherry's in-depth knowledge of the island led us to explore the quaint little town and then further afield where we saw playful seals, delightful Highlander coos, and even a couple having their wedding photos done.  Highlander House is warm, inviting, and beautifully decorated, furnished with interesting items from the hosts' global travels. Our hosts gave us our first-ever taste of a full Scottish breakfast which was quite unlike an English breakfast in that it had haggis, black pudding, and square sausage among the other usual breakfast items.  This was beautifully presented as a taster platter. Our curiosity turned to delight and we were very well impressed with the offerings and portion sizes. Another treat was the Scottish salmon bagel, with the salmon fished locally. Sadly, our time on the island ended far too soon and we can't wait to return to explore more and enjoy the hospitality we received at Highlander House.  Thanks Gus and Sherry!
