Gus took the time to recommend places for us to visit around the island and places to eat which was super helpful as first time visitors and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring these. Our room was very well equipped, the coffee maker was a delight as was the mini fridge and content, to top it off the garden view was simply stunning and immaculately maintained. Breakfast was utterly divine each morning we felt spoiled, the extra attention to detail from Gus getting to know us and what we liked so he could prepare us something that would set us up for the day was truly exceptional, service above and beyond. All the extra touches throughout our stay were outstanding, so much so we added an extra night as we loved it so much. Gus truly ensures you have an enjoyable visit and one to remember he spends time getting to know his guests and introduces them to one an other which creates a wonderful atmosphere. We had the honour of spending a lovely afternoon with Gus and guests in his beautiful garden chatting away and enjoying the most stunning view sipping champagne (gus wore mine ooops) a laugh and a memory to be treasured. Can't thank the magnificent hosts Gus and Sherry enough for making our trip extra special. Already planning our next trip. Its a 12 out of 10 from us. The meals, our breakfast was a fantastic experience, Gus & Sherry pulled out all the stops, tailoring our dining choices. The reception of Gus and his warmth and delicious coffee on arrival was so refreshing. I would urge anyone looking for a quiet, warm inviting B&B to choose this stunning place as a place to enjoy Bute from. The views from the bedroom, are stunning and you can watch the ferry coming and going all day, this coupled with the coffee machine and the constant replenishment of coffee and fresh milk make this a definite return visit. An upgrade due to a computer glitch, where we booked a view, Gus contacted me personally and apologised and offered another room with a higher degree of fit and finish indicative of the top rated room. We were absolutely blown away with the visit and plan a return. Highly recommended in every way!!!!!

He recommended the Colintraive Hotel and even offered to drive us to the ferry and come back for us. We received such a warm welcome from Gus and were shown to our room. We stayed in the Glenfinan. A lovely room with floor to ceiling windows. The room was lovely and came will lots of little extras, including bottles of homemade rose wine and a bottle of milk which was perfect. The breakfast was amazing with a great selection of tasty options. We came home after our anniversary meal to a bottle of prosecco in an ice bucket and two glasses. We were both very touched by Gus and Sherry's kindness. Sherry also left some homemade brownies in our room which were delicious. I would highly recommend staying at Highlander House and hope to be back again.
