  Best B&B ever!  - Absolutely outstanding in every way.
Spotlessly clean and wonderful decor. Really comfy bed and bedding and a location to die for!
On top of this the host was amazing! Really... read more friendly and informative and nothing was too much trouble for him. We had a wonderful holiday thanks to the host and his amazing B&B. The breakfasts are awesome!

  A truly exceptional guest house - Just returned from an exceptional stay at Gus and Sherry’s beautiful guesthouse on Bute where we were blessed with glorious weather and superb cycling all over the island. From... read more the minute we arrived to the minute we left, Gus was the most perfect host. On arrival, he took the time to sit down and welcome us over a lovely cup of coffee, giving us great tips on where to go and what to do on Bute. Our room (Skye) was beautiful and spotlessly clean with a great view over the bay. There were lots of very welcome surprises like a quality coffee machine with great coffee pods and lindt chocolates, a mini fridge with fresh milk and rose wine, even homemade muesli bars appeared on day two. The breakfasts were tremendous and nothing was too much trouble for Gus – everything tasted superb and we were convinced he must have been a chef in a previous life! In comparison to other top quality hotels and B&B’s in Scotland, Highlander House offers outstanding quality and value for money. We cannot recommend this establishment highly enough and would like to thank Gus and Sherry for a truly memorable stay. We hope to return again one day soon.

  The 5-star review that really should be a 10-star one  - I came to the Isle of Bute last September, only to check it off as one of my last unexplored areas of Scotland, after 13 previous trips from Austria since... read more 2008. But after my somewhat lukewarm expectation what a positive surprise Bute in general and Highlander House in particular turned out to be! I am sorry that 5 stars is the maximum I can give, as Highlander House would easily deserve more.
From the loving attention to detail to the spotlessness in my room and all areas of the house, everything was simply perfect.
Breakfast was absolutely fantastic and I felt spoiled by the choices, particularly the Smoked Salmon with Avocado and the Spanish Omelette which were a welcome change from the usual full Scottish breakfasts I had had everywhere else.
To crown it all, Gus was very helpful with a repair item on my car which he went out of his way to buy and provide for free without my even asking. Many thanks to you two for a wonderful stay which I only wish would have been longer.
