Named after Scotland’s iconic north Highland isle, this 1st floor room boasts a stunning bay view, charming original 1850’s paneling and bespoke original Victorian cornice work on its 3.5m high ceiling. A beautiful in-room serpentine cabinet vanity perfectly unites the concept of “olde world” with the new world bathroom complete with jetted shower.

Above the rustic smokeless fireplace, a 50-inch smart tv awaits your viewing pleasure from the king size bed or seating area overlooking the bay.

					  Excellent guesthouse very comfortable rooms.  Superb choice for breakfast. Ideal location. Lovely views. - On arrival we were met by Gus who made us extremely welcome. We had a garden view room which was very clean and comfortable. There was also lots of little... read more extras eg. Various toiletries plus a small mini fridge with complimentary rose wine and milk for our tea. We also had delicious treats each day baked by Sherry which we enjoyed with our coffee made from our Dolce Gusta machine which was an added touch. The breakfasts each day were delicious lots of choices and cooked to your own personal request. There is a seating area in the front garden with wonderful views of the Kyles and Rothesay Bay. Excellent location short 5 min walk to the town. Gus and Sherry are both excellent hosts can’t do enough for you and we would highly recommend staying at this excellent guest house.

					  Be back soon Rothesay - My second visit to gus and Sherri at the highlander and superb once again.the comfortable clean rooms with drinks,snacks and sherri’s delicious home baking area delight, there’s even a pillow... read more spray to enhance a great nights sleep.breakfast is special here,yes go for the full Scottish fry made with local produce but don’t be afraid to venture of piste to smoked salmon/trout/haddock territory with free range eggs. Gus is font of knowledge and will advise on places to eat and visit.can recommend the new hot dog shak at the ferry terminal, the black bull for home style food, large portions,book ahead, and of course sherri’s homemade granola! Loved the goody bag gus gave us before we left.

Very friendly and warm people, going the extra mile with small details like coming back to home baked goods after a day out exploring.... read more The guesthouse is beautiful and all 3 of us commented on how comfy the beds are ! The cooked breakfast in the morning set us up very well for the day. Would highly recommend staying here. Thanks for a lovely stay, Gus and Sherry!
